Little Card, Big Dream
"When you decide you truly do not ever want to feel a certain way again, you set out on a journey of self-awareness, learning, and growth that has you radically reinvent who you are.” -Brianna Weist, The Mountain is You
In the Fall of 2022, I was craving a major lifestyle change. I was busy doing ALL the things. Being a busy mom, running a gift boutique, trying to figure out the infamous work-life balance. Life felt heavy and rushed... as if I was pushing a car through mud at times and then sprinting in a race at others.
Then a few months later, some events took place that really gave me pause. It made me truly stop and reflect about what I wanted in this short, beautiful life. I was done going through the motions. I was craving the feeling of lightness. I was in need of color in my life. I didn't want to just survive and get through the day. I wanted to thrive and enjoy every moment.
That's when I decided to take a chance on an idea that I had sat on for almost a year, a candle inside of a greeting card. I didn't pursue this idea for so long because of the following thoughts in my head:
- It's so simple... so it must not be that creative.
- It's so obvious... so it must already exist.
- And my favorite... if it doesn't exist, there must be a reason
That's when a line in the book The Mountain is You hit me like a ton of bricks.
"The truth is that most people regret what they did not do more than they ever regret what they did." -Brianna Weist
And just like that, I got out of my own way and started living the life I was craving. A life where I wasn't afraid to try things out of fear of failure. A life where I felt light and happy. A life where I would give more than I would take. A life where I slowed down and savored the simple, little things. A life that prioritized experience over stuff. A life so rich in happiness that it would spill out to others and they would be inspired to feel the same.
I decided to go for my idea. But first I needed to replace those negative thoughts in my brain.
For thinking these cards are too simple, I replaced it with this...
"The smartest ideas sometimes are the simplest little products, they don't have to be big, but you can sell millions." -Lori Greiner
Just like that, my mindset was changed. I truly believed this was something fun, and unexpected. Something that would surprise and delight others to bring to bring them joy.
Something that would be make giving easier... which would then make it more fun... which would then make it happen more often... which could then make the world a better place!
Millions of people could be impacted by a simple, little card because our human need for connection will always exist. And honestly, it's suffering these days. We should feel more connected than ever in our digital world, but really we're more detached.
It's time to get back to the basics.
- Take the time to give someone an unexpected gift to brighten their day. We've made it easy for you to do so!
- Handwrite that heartfelt message. It could have an impact and ripple effect beyond what you could imagine.
It could change you as the giver! It could give you the best feeling in the world to let your loved one know how much you care.
In sharing my story about what lead me to create Little Luxe Cards, my hope is that you will be inspired to make the most of your beautiful life as well.
Go for your dreams! Pursue that idea that you've held back on out of fear or judgement. You only have one life. One chance to live it that way you want. One opportunity to leave this world a better place.
I'm cheering you on!
